ShadowLight is continuing the work of our founder and artistic director, Larry Reed (1944 - 2026).

For decades, Larry developed a distinct form of cinematic shadow theater that continues today through the community of artists who trained with him. Creative performers around the world are now creating new productions, teaching at universities, and collaborating across theater, opera, film, and beyond.

ShadowLight is carrying that work forward.

We are preserving and activating our archive of Larry's performances, films, puppets, and creative process, making his work accessible to artists and scholars.

We are also continuing our education programs, bringing shadow theater into schools, community spaces, and arts organizations, and supporting the next generation of artists working in this form.

As Larry would say at the end of a performance: the stories go on forever.
